Dentures and partials

At Soft Touch Dental in the heart of San Diego, we offer partial and complete dentures that can resemble your natural teeth and even enhance your smile. Complete dentures are required when all of one's teeth in an arch are missing, while partial dentures are used when some of the natural teeth are still intact. Dentures can also be fixed, or removable. Removable dentures are an option for patients who don't have sufficient oral health or the number of teeth to support a full or partial fixed bridge.

An implant denture is a type of overdenture that attaches to dental implants within the mouth. Implant dentures are used instead of regular dentures when a patient doesn't have enough teeth to support a regular denture system.

We offer you both conventional and immediate complete dentures. Conventional dentures are made after the teeth have been removed and the gum tissues have healed. This usually takes between 4 to 6 weeks. Immediate dentures are made in advance and placed immediately after teeth are removed. Necessary adjustments are then made once the tissues shrink and heal.

Dentures are highly durable dental appliances and can last for many years. In some cases, they need to be remade and re-adjusted due to normal wear.

When do you require dentures and partials?

  • Complete denture – loss of all teeth in an arch
  • When you've broken your current dentures, lost your dentures and need new dentures, or when they just need to be fixed or repaired
  • Partial denture – loss of several teeth in an arch
  • Enhancing smile and facial tissues
  • Improving chewing, speech, and digestion

What is involved in the dentures and partials process?

This procedure would involve multiple visits to our clinic spread over a few weeks. We start by taking highly accurate impressions and measurements to ensure a perfect fit. The dentures are prepared in our state-of-the-art lab using modern technology. On your final appointment, we make all the necessary adjustments and place the completed denture. We make sure you enjoy a natural and comfortable fit.

You may initially experience an increased flow of saliva, soreness, and problems with speech and chewing. These are common and subside once your muscles and tissues adjust to the dentures.

Once the procedure is over, we offer you the necessary care instructions for your dentures. You need to clean the dentures properly, maintain good oral hygiene and schedule regular dental visits to extend the life of your dentures.
